Google Drive Menu Bar Item The menu bar item gives you quick access to the Google Drive folder located on your Mac; it also includes a link to open Google Drive in your browser. It also displays recent documents you have added or updated and tells you if the syncing to the cloud has completed. Access Google Drive with a free Google account (for personal use) or G Suite account (for business use). Google Drive for Mac (Backup and Sync for Mac) is a place where you can create, share, collaborate, and keep all of your stuff. Whether you're working with a friend on a joint research project, planning a wedding with your fiance or tracking a budget with roommates, you can do it in Drive. Method 1 Using Google Drive 1. Open Google Drive. Go to in your computer's web browser. Click any file or folder in your Drive window. Doing so will select it. Select everything in Google Drive. Press Ctrl + A (Windows) or ⌘ Command + A (Mac) to do so.

If you’re a G Suite user, you should know that the Google Drive app you may be using on your Mac and PC is going away soon. But Google has a brand new alternative for it, one that’ll let you quickly access all your files from the cloud. It’s called Drive File Stream, and it’s what you should be using going forward.

The regular Google Drive app will be shut down by next March, so the faster you move to Drive File Stream, the better for yourself and your business.

Google explained in a blog post that starting Thursday, Drive users will see settings for the Drive File Stream app appear in the Admin console. The settings won’t go into effect until September 26th when the app becomes available, and links will be shown in the Drive interface only if you see them in Backup and Sync or Google Drive for Mac and PC.

If you’re a G Suite admin managing Google products for a company, then you’d better get acquainted with the new Drive File Stream and use it instead of Google Drive and Backup and Sync.

Regular Google users will be better off getting the consumer sync client announced a few weeks ago, the Backup and Sync tool that’s already available to download. Businesses can also use Backup and Sync, though they should pick just one solution to manage their files — the Drive File Stream app is optimized for enterprise use, and may be the better choice.

You should pick one or the other soon, as Google Drive is going away for good, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Google Drive is a cloud storage service by Google which allows you to backup photos, videos & files online to access them anywhere on any smartphone, computer or tablet. Google is still limiting the number of accounts that can access the service during its early days. Installing the 'Google Drive Desktop Application' on your Mac allows you to instantly sync your photos, videos & files on your hard drive to Google Drive & vice-versa. Google Drive allows you to create a special folder (Google Drive folder) on each of your computers for storing the photos, videos, files & documents. Changes made to one Google Drive folder (on your computer) will reflect in other Google Drive folders (on other computers) as well. You can change the location of Google Drive folder. To change the location, click 'Advanced Setup' button. The 'Advanced Setup' option allows you to control your file syncing abilities. You can choose to have Google Drive automatically start every time when your Mac starts up.
